Welcome!

John Burland is an Educator and Composer who has been writing and recording religious music for children and adults for over twenty years. He has worked with children, parents and educators in schools, parish communities and educational institutions across Australia and North America promoting celebration through song, meditative prayer, movement and story.

Each year John travels to more than one hundred Catholic communities celebrating our Catholic faith through the great gifts of music and song. He is a sought after keynote speaker, workshop leader and published author in the area of music and catechesis. John's ten music collections are used extensively in school/parish communities throughout Australia and North America.

For the past twenty years John has been working in Primary schools throughout the Sydney Archdiocese holding a variety of executive positions including that of Religious Education Coordinator, Assistant Principal and Acting Principal. John currently works for the Catholic Education Office in Sydney as the Project Officer- Liturgy/Music, where he conducts workshops, celebrations and reflection days for children, teachers and parish communities.

December 2008 - "God Loves Me" on DVD available now!

"God Loves Me" is an exciting new instructional resource for religious educators. It contains 21 songs and covers a variety of catechetical themes such as Revelation, Trinity, Jesus Christ, The Church, Morality, Sacraments, Kingdom of God, Mary, Social Justice, and Traditional Catholic Prayer.

This DVD clearly demonstrates the accompanying movements to all 21 songs and includes four songs demonstrated by children from 5-12 years of age. A Study Guide is also included with this DVD which identifies for each song a recommended age group, Scripture references, Catechism of the Catholic Church references, questions for preparation and follow-up and ideas for developing further each movement.

April 2008

I'm very privileged that my song "Come O Holy Spirit" has been chosen as the Hymn for the Presentation of the Gifts at the Opening Mass for Sydney's World Youth Day 2008 in July. It will be sung by a choir of 350 voices from all over Australia, including students from Sydney Catholic schools, and accompanied by a full orchestra and contemporary rhythm section.

February 2008

My tenth CD "God Loves Me" has now been released with accompanying music book. The CD is a collection of 20 energising and engaging new songs that support catechetical themes such as Revelation, Trinity, Jesus Christ, the Church, Morality, Sacraments and Social Justice.

These songs are suitable for children from 4 to 12 years of age and presented in a variety of musical styles. The collection also includes quiet reflective music for meditative prayer and songs to assist in the teaching and learning of formal prayer with young children.

February 2007

My ninth CD “Move! Pray! Celebrate! - Music and Movement for Religious Education” and my debut DVD of the same name has been released. It is an excellent instructional resource for Religious Educators. It contains 18 songs which cover a variety of themes such as Gathering, God's Love, Christmas, Easter, Mary, the Sacraments, Justice and many others.

The DVD clearly demonstrates the accompanying movements to all 18 songs and includes four songs being demonstrated within a group situation by children and young adults.
